Overview and Internship Summary:
The Dodge City Days Internship offers a unique opportunity for interns to gain insight into the vital role played by the Dodge City Days Committee and the Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce within the local community. This internship involves supporting Chamber Staff in planning Dodge City Days events, managing community communications, and contributing to office operations and member services. The intern will forge valuable connections in Dodge City, while acquiring firsthand experience in networking and event planning.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Dodge City Days: Collaborate with the Events Director in organizing the Dodge City Days event, a 10-day community festival renowned as the premier Western Heritage Celebration in Kansas. Responsibilities include event planning, event promotion, coordination of various activities during the festival, logistical management, and more.
Membership Database: Acquaintance with the Chamber's membership database, Chamber Master.
Office Operations: Assist in day-to-day tasks such as handling phone inquiries, welcoming visitors, responding to emails, participating in meetings, among other duties.
Qualifications, Skills, and Characteristics:
College or highly accomplished high school student.
Strong time management and organizational abilities.
Detail-oriented and task-driven.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Fundamental understanding of marketing, advertising, and event planning.
Possession of a valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the U.S.
Basic knowledge or willingness to learn website management, social media marketing, database organization, app development, and design software like InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Availability to work throughout the 2024 Dodge City Days event: July 25, 2024, to August 4, 2024
Intern Compensation:
Hourly wage of $15.00
Weekly commitment averaging between 30-40 hours
